Mark Ohlendorf

Mark Ohlendorf became Co-President of Brookdale Senior Living in August 2005. He joined Alterra Healthcare through the 1997 merger of Alterra and Sterling House Corporation, where he was Chief Financial Officer. In April 2003, he was elected by the board of directors to serve as Alterra’s President and he was appointed CEO in December 2003. His background encompasses nearly 25 years of experience in various sectors of the health care industry, including skilled nursing and hospice services.

Mark earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Illinois Wesleyan University, and is a certified public accountant. He is a member of the board of directors of the Assisted Living Federation of America and American Seniors Housing Association.
